Steven’s Pass (188.4) – Tentsite (192): 3.6 miles / 221.9 total miles walked

After another night in the bunkhouse, I had some baguette and cream cheese for breakfast before figuring out my food for the next section of hiking. The upcoming 75 miles between Steven’s and Snoqualmie Pass are the hardest section on the entire PCT, in terms of elevation gain and loss, with almost 30000ft of climbing and descending.

Grizzly Peak (174) – Steven’s Pass (188.4): 14.4 miles / 218.3 total miles walked

My alarm went off at 4:30 and I packed up insanely fast, just because I didn’t want to get eaten alive by the bloodthirsty insects. I started walking at 5 am and basically didn’t stop until I needed water at 7:30. And and Deerbait and a little later Fuad showed up. Like the rest of us, he was almost completely out of food, had had even less to work with for the last couple of days. What we do for following our passion, right?

PCT Day 16: Dancing with Marmots

Fire Creek (134.8) – Reflection Pond (152.4): 17.6 miles / 182.3 total miles walked

The first half of the day sucked ass…

It started out with a stream crossing (the first of many) that took way too long to figure out, followed by a crazy steep uphill before breakfast….ehich resulted in me having to jump into the bushes and jank my pants down just in time. Why do uphills always make me have to poop so badly? It’s so annoying…

After that fun little interlude I continued walking, dodging about a million downed trees.
