PCT Day 14: Up

Tentsite mile 109.4 – Tentsite mile 123.3: 13.9 miles / 153.2 total miles walked

I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning, but I did anyway. There was some more downhill to get done, which I tried to do quickly, because I was out of water.

Of course by the time I got to the river, it was so raging and the bridge over it was so high up that I couldn’t even get to the water. 🙄

So I kept on walking, and since it was pretty chilly it wasn’t much of a problem. Sink caught up to me at the water and we chatted for a bit.

Then it was more uphill, which continued pretty much for the rest of the day. No fun. And it was coooooooolllld.

I stopped for lunch at a small creek and the sun finally made an appearance. I managed to wash my shirt and panties and laid them out to dry.

For lunch I had Mountain House Chili Mac, which was so good….but I fear my fuel canister is about to run out. I hope it’ll last me until the end of this section.

There were a few log crossings today and a ton of smaller creeks and streams, especially once I made it to the top of the mountain. The view from up there is absolutely stunning, almost worth the climb up.

Just before we were done for the day I stepped on a snowy patch and my foot went straight through and got soaked…..oh well. And there was an icy wind and the clouds were gathering. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tonight.

I am camped in a small campsite with Sink and Deerbait and we all had dinner together and chatted.

Tomorrow will probably be the toughest day in this section, with a lot of elevation loss and gain…..my calves are yelling at me, but I’ll hang in there.

Keeping you posted…
