Salem, OR – South Lake Tahoe, CA: 0 miles walked / ~ 800 miles driven

We woke up fairly early, packed up everything we own. It’s not that much, to be honest. I am getting sick of this one shirt, but I guess I’ll wear it until it falls off me.

Around 11 am Sink picked up the car, we even got an upgrade. And then we took our 2 day old McDonald’s cups and got another free refill….and started heading to California.

Several stops were necessary, since I had packages sitting at Big Lake Youth Camp, Shelter Cove and Crater Lake. But it all worked out pretty well.

I supplied the trip with some good music, we had quite a few singalongs, and made good time.

Around 7 pm we were on a straight shot for Cali, and stopped for some delicious Mexican food, just before crossing the border.

A beautiful sunset and then some abandoned backroads led the way south. We made it to South Lake Tahoe by 1 am, 14 hours in a car. But we made it.

We met up with Dan, our host, at the bar he works at, getting a well deserved drink. And then we were able to crash at his house and get some rest…..finally. A long day, but so worth it.

Keeping you posted…
